SMHa, working as architectural consultant to Seamon Whiteside and Associates, has recently completed a master plan for Newberry College. In summary, the plan determined a need for additional housing requirements for planned growth as well as a desire to maintain the cohesive nature of the campus. The master plan determined that siting two new dormitories on the exisitng baseball field would help in creating a pedestrian connection between the original quadrangle area and the music school. This concept also locates the dorms near educational facilities to strengthen the existing living-learning community of Newberry College that other larger institutions are now trying to recreate.
