St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, in Summerville, South Carolina has seen tremendous growth in the last few years and is quickly out-growing its current facilities. The immediate needs center around the sanctuary – the need for more seating in the Nave, a narthex and additional support facilities.

The plan of the addition centers around a new baptismal hall, which is located at the entry into the Nave. A new seating area, holding approximately 120 seats extends the Nave to one direction. A large Commons/Narthex provides space for both before-and after-service fellowship and also other church functions during the week.

The existing building, designed during the 1960’s in a modern vernacular, is constructed in brick, with very clean, sophisticated detailing. The new addition compliments this in its brickwork, along with the use of other materials, such as copper siding and roofing.
