The built environment has a noteworthy impact on the natural environment. While sustainable design is not a new concept for SMHa, there are new technologies, products and tools that can help building owners meet their building needs while reducing this impact. There are varying shades of “green” that can be achieved based on the unique parameters and goals of each project and we will work with you to meet those goals. SMHa is well versed in the everyday community conservation efforts through participation in the Charleston Green Business Challenge and principal leadership in the Chamber of Commerce Council on Green Business and Net Zero Energy House for East Cooper Habitat for Humanity.
The most widely known green building measurement tool is the U.S. Green Building Council’s “LEED®” Rating System (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
