Architect I or Unlicensed Design Staff I

Summary of Position: 

Ideally you would have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in architectural practice. We would expect that you can work using independent judgement to solve a range of architectural design problems from space planning to detailed design to contract documents. Are you able to recognize your limitations and seek knowledge and input from others with more experience on unusual or complex issues? Can you be attuned to the needs of others and offer your assistance when you see they need help reaching a design pinnacle? If so keep scrolling… 

General Qualities: 

  • Ability to embrace the firm culture and design goals and positively represent the firm at all times
  • Proficient in firm software tools for design, construction documents, and practice
  • Knowledgeable of common construction systems and technical resources
  • Understand the importance of an architect being active in the community
  • Willing to develop design, communication and leadership skills consistent with firm standards

Project Responsibilities: 

  • Comprehend the contractual obligations to our clients
  • Actively participate in the design process from design through construction
  • Ability to program, plan, and design small to mid-size projects
  • Select appropriate building systems and interpret building codes for the project
  • Ability to collaborate and correspond with consulting engineers

Qualifications: 

  • Undergraduate or Professional Degree in Architecture
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (visual, verbal, written)
  • Possess a desire to grow your knowledge of the architecture practice with emphasis on design, building materials, construction methods, integration of engineering disciplines, and building codes
  • Able and willing to work in a collaborative environment

Compensation: 

  • Salary based upon experience

Architectural Draftsperson

Summary of Position:

Ideally you would have 3-5 years of experience (or more) in architectural detailing using REVIT. You may be a technical college graduate, an architectural graduate, or someone who “just gets it.” We would expect that you can (or ultimately can) work using independent judgement to solve a range of architectural design problems from space planning to detailed design to contract documents. Are you able to recognize your limitations and seek knowledge and input from others with more experience on unusual or complex issues? Qualifications:

  • Technical College Degree or Undergraduate Degree in Architecture
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (visual, verbal, written)
  • Possess a desire to grow your knowledge of the architecture practice with emphasis on building materials, construction methods, integration of engineering disciplines, and building codes
  • Able and willing to work in a collaborative environment

Construction Clerk of the Works

Summary of Position:

Ideally you would have relevant experience or have a sincere interest in administering the process required of an architect during the construction phase of the project.  This can be a growth position for someone who is not fully experienced, but has a desire to become skilled.  We would expect that you be highly organized, a good communicator, and time conscious.  This job will require you to handle the administration of multiple projects, but you will not be alone, you are effectively supporting our project architects who are responsible for their projects. 

 General Qualities:

  • Positively represent the firm at all times
  • Proficient in software tools for construction administration
  • General knowledge of the AIA document A201-General Conditions for Construction
  • Knowledgeable of CSI MasterFormat, construction systems, and technical resources
  • Communication and other skills consistent with firm standards

Project Responsibilities:

  • Assist project architect in administering construction paperwork and processes
  • Maintain construction administration files in accordance with SMHa standards
  • Ability to collaborate and correspond with contractors and consulting engineers
  • Process and track construction submittals
  • Process and track proposal requests, change orders
  • Potentially assist the project architects in the field

Qualifications:

  • 2 year technical college degree or 4 year college degree
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Possess a desire to grow your knowledge of the architecture practice with emphasis on
  • construction administration
  • Able and willing to work in a collaborative environment
