Mount Pleasant, SC

Completion: 2004

Size: 1,582 sf Boathouse

The Boathouse for the Park West Recreation Complex was designed as a multi-use pavilion and learning center. It is used by the Town for children’s day camp programs, boating lessons on the adjacent pond, and general public activities. By opening the sliding shutters and triple doors, the main room can easily be transformed into an open-air pavilion that spills out onto the porch overlooking the pond. Materials were chosen for a simple rustic appearance; reverse board and batten siding with shingles in the gable walls. The exposed truss at the porch, rafter tails, stained wood shutters and doors, further reinforce this aesthetic.
