Completed in 2023, building envelope repairs to this 48,000-square-foot historic building included replacement of roofing systems and related work, repairs and reconfiguration of existing roof drainage components, cleaning and strengthening of existing roof trusses, replacement of steel lintels above windows, repair and recoating of exterior stucco, complete window restoration, and repair and painting interior walls. 


Located within the City of Charleston’s Historic District, the renovation to Silcox Center required approval from the City’s Board of Architectural Review and the South Carolina State Historic Preservation Officer and was required to be in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. The SC Office of State Engineer was the code official for the project.
