DANIEL ISLAND ACADEMY

Completed in 2004, this 17,540-square-foot childcare and preschool accommodates infants to 4K in a thoughtful yet whimsically designed building that simultaneously meets and exceeds NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) guidelines. The building utilizes sustainable components such as light monitors for increased natural light, geothermal mechanical system, and low-VOC materials. Cues were taken from the school’s proximity to coastal areas, integrating the color scheme and wall and floor designs with the locale.
