HOSPICE OF CHARLESTON

Completed in 2006, the 19,729-square-foot Hospice House accommodates 20 residents and offers support spaces such as a chapel, spa, and family gathering spaces. The building plan encourages caregivers to be with the residents; therefore, little visual focus is given to nurse work areas from guest areas. All the corridors are single loaded to bring light and nature into the building. The building is organized around a number of live oaks; the most prominent of which is in the center of the residents' courtyard.
