SEWEE OUTPOST
Awendaw, SC
Completed in 2004, the 10,000-square-foot Sewee Outpost was the vision of a McClellanville man with strong ties to the Lowcountry. Sitting on the doorstep of the small, rural town of Awendaw along Highway 17, great strides were taken to make this a culturally rich destination. The vision was to serve a need for town locals, commuters, and travelers with a filling station and general store.
The large agricultural form, clad in agri-industrial corrugated metal with accents of rough cut heavy timbers, exposed structure, and tabby concrete sidewalks contribute to this very casual and inviting Lowcountry experience.
