THE CHURCH OF THE HOLY CROSS
Daniel Island, SC

Completed in 2011, The Church of the Holy Cross on Daniel Island seats 170 in the main sanctuary in addition to the 5,000-square-foot detached Parish Hall and Education Building. Formally, the building echoes Holy Cross’ historic stone sanctuary on Sullivan’s Island and is reminiscent of small rural worship structures. The church commands its corner site in the heart of Daniel Island with a tower that reaches for the sidewalk. The remaining structure delicately angles away from both sidewalks and is surrounded within a public open space.
