WINDMILL STATION
Carnes Crossroads

SMHa designed all four structures on the “Windmill Station” parcel, which are positioned along the site’s perimeter so as to create a strong community identity, contributing to the design principles of the Carnes Crossroads master-planned community.
The buildings’ designs derive from simple rural agrarian forms. The parcel’s namesake windmill is located adjacent to the retail building and serves as a local landmark and icon. The functioning windmill is illuminated with well designed signage and visible from both directions of Highway 17A.
In addition to designing all buildings on the site, including two multi-tenant medical office buildings and Charleston ENT, and several in the surrounding area, including Lowcountry Endoscopy Center, SMHa also upfitted many interiors, including Charleston GI, Coastal Pediatric Associates, Lowcountry Rheumatology, and Breastfeeding Center of Charleston.
